The White Willow is native and deciduous. It begins awakening from winter with lovely soft fluffy catkins in March and April. White Willow leaves have soft muted green on the upper with fine silky pale hairs to the undersides.

The catkins are an important source of early nectar and pollen for bees and insects and the branches make good nesting sites for birds.
