Ilex aquifolium Alaska is one of the most winter hardy cultivars of the Common Holly. It is a relatively small and slender variety of holly which makes it very suitable in narrow hedges. The sharp dentate, spiny leaves are narrow and is a truly hardy tree, capable of surviving in most conditions except where it is extremely wet.

Alaska is a self-pollinating female form which bears many red berries. However, the number of berries will be larger when a male Holly is present.
